Parent Article: Troubleshooting Credit Card Results From Mercury Payments
This is an error message that shows on the slip reciept. I think this comes from Mercury. AP means authorization. I don't see the message in data caps “DSIClientX Interface Spec V04.23 - 20090529.pdf” document. What does AP mean in AP not captured? There is a CaptureStatus of Captured or Not Captured. This is in section 13.01 listed under Transaction Response under XML Responses.

It is possible that this was a duplicate transaction, the first goes through and is approved but the transaction is lost. Normally *AP is the response when a duplicate happens.
WHen a response is lost that means the Approval message got lost in the internet. There would timeout or other message that happens first. On the second attempt The AP NOT CAPTURED message may appear.
Method and next steps here are to go onto the Mercury website you can log into and check to see how many authorizations etc. were recorded on their side. Then we can compare that against the actiity that the customer reported. It is important to make sure the customer lets us know about the problem taking multiple attempts etc. All these can be critical information in determining what happened. As a tech it is important to validate every point that we can and filter out any incorrect inforamtion.
In this case, the “AP NOT CAPTURED” message occurs, and the transaction is declined in Windward. The transaction ends up getting authorized and charged against the customers card.
This message comes from Mercury Payments. It is related to the timeout on no response message. It often comes up after a timeout on no response message.
