Furniture store with small second location

The owner is opening up a second location. He is placing 2 POS PC’s at the location. This location will have almost no stock, and is connecting remotely via RDP/RDS connections to the server. His main concern is that he can get P&L information for the product he sells. He doesn’t need to track how much inventory is at the second location as it is too small to hold inventory.

  • Inventory should be consolidated: No need to handle transfers of stock in this scenario, so to keep things simple inventory will be combined.

Outdoor Power Equipment store with travelling remote store

The owner is running a travelling sales trailer. The sales made at the travelling store will be treated like its own profit center. They take this trailer regularly to various locations, set up shop and perform sales for a period of time. The items taken in the trailer are only clothing items, not the whole inventory. They connect to the data via an internet connection using RDP/RDS.

  • The key need is tracking inventory in the trailer
    • Partly because they need to know what needs to be replenished in the trailer
    • Partly to provide better service for customers at the main location. Inventory in trailer should not show for sale when it is not available to the customers at the main location.
  • Owner wants a P&L for sales at the trailer (2nd department) separate from the main location
  • Owner doesn't want to track payroll or billing against the 2nd department.
  • The pricing in the trailer is not different that the main location
  • There are no bin/shelf locations set up

How to check data for accuracy

  • Check inventory value before and after
  • Check ledger reports from one data set to the next (trial balance report specifically)
  • Compare sales reports before and after
