Some notes for converting to AIC from Departments

Process

* Figure out the segment sizes (ex: Decided on 5 Char - 3 Char segments)
* Export a stock count report with locations to excel for reference later
* Run toolbox routines to move everything from dept X1 through Xn to
    dept 0 where X is 1,2,...,n
* Re-license to add AIC and remove depts
* Info: It does not let us set up the location segments because locations
   already exist.
* Run toolbox routine "Inventory Routines | Stock Control Routines |
   AIC Inventory Location Reset"
* Set up the 2 segments

Now you can start setting up and using locations
  • Running the toolbox routine is not explained above, and if not done correctly there is no chance the routine will work. After all the locations are cleared you can set up the 2 segments.
  • Using the old method of deleting files can work
  • Using the checkbox on a first pass of the tollbox routine may also clear them
  • After locations are properly cleared and stock is in the system, but not in the correct locations (including <No Location Assigned>) you can try the steps below
1) Data load csv with Cat, Part, Location to inventory via an
inventory data load (qty already loaded previously)
2) Run toolbox to move stock to loactions from same CSV file
(checkbox to clear location references NOT CHECKED).

  • Inventory Routines | Stock Control Routines | AIC Inventory Location Reset
Version 6.0.82.103 - March 25, 2014
1. [43438] Added a Toolbox routine to reset and clear the location information in an AIC dataset.

Old Process pre version 6.0.82.103 2014-04-23(cm)

* Figure out the segment sizes (ex: Decided on 5 Char - 3 Char segments)
* Export a stock count report with locations to excel for reference later
* Run toolbox routines to move everything from dept X1 through Xn to dept 0 where X is 1,2,...,n
* Re-license to add AIC and remove depts
* Info: It does not let us set up the location segments because locations already exist.
* Remove InvLocat.btr, Location.btr, and Locsegmt.btr
* Set up the 2 segments
* Run the toolbox routine: Fix Location XRef Records. (It is in the locations section of inventory
I think, and only shows if you have AIC turned on).
  - Note: Behaviour that we ran into if we don't run the toolbox routine is that the parts can't
be added to the stock move screen. They just don't show up.

Now you can start setting up and using locations
