Problem Description

FOLLOW UP, CONTROL, AND SUMMARY

  • Summary
  • Control
  • Follow up and benefits

Solution

* Summary

  1. Work order
  2. Sending the PO
  3. Receiving the PO
  4. Updating the invoice
  5. Completing the invoice
  6. Billing
  7. Editing the completed invoice
  • Control
  1. Using the cost of $0 to identify which parts we are working in
  2. Sales history on unknown freight
  3. GL Account for unknown freight and related GL reports
  4. Special orders help us properly track the order. This allows us to keep the invoice line attached to the PO which can be linked to the bill.
  5. Available quantity on regular freight parts is $0 unless something has gone wrong.

* Follow up and benefits

  1. The scenario is flexible: other methods like putting a rate on the freight part and using quantity for units. This is a way to change the details, but keeping the same general plan in place.
  2. Allows for you to have other employees add value to the overall process. Example: Your shipper receiver can provide information on the real costs and what the prices should have been. This can help make sure you charge enough for freight.
  3. Each role in the company is separate, but the process allows for communication of enough information to allow each person in the process to perform their task.
